Paris Ionescu was born in New York City on May 12th, 1987 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village.  He lived for a brief period of time in Jersey City then moved to the Upper East Side when he was three and that has remained home base.  His mother, Caroline, is of Welsh/German extraction, born and raised in London. His father, George-Dan, is purebred Romanian. Caroline has a variegated background, Dan heads his own architectural practice. His grandparents on his mother’s side, John and Noretta Leech, live in London and are the founders of a Trust for young professional pianists.  His late grandparents on his father’s side, Elena (Nella) and Georgica Ionescu, both practiced law and lived in Bucharest.  Grandma Nella spent many months looking after young Paris and they always had a very special bond (and not just because she hid sweets for Paris behind paintings and gave them to him when Caroline wasn’t looking).  He has two godmothers, Anita in London and Gigi, who he personally appointed, in New York.  His godfather Philippe lives in LA.  Philippe wrote a lovely song “Godson Paris” which became the theme song for the Nagano Winter Olympics.

Paris exited this physical life early the morning of Saturday, December 19th, 2015.
